Carey Phelps (formerly Carey Skinner) has been a NIRI member since 2002 and has served as a Board member for 3 years.

Carey is the Division Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications for Spectrum Brands, Inc., a consumer products company headquartered in Atlanta. Carey is responsible for investor relations as well as media relations at the corporate level, coordinating the communication efforts with Spectrum's respective brands, such as Rayovac(r) and Remington(r).

Prior to joining Spectrum Brands in April 2008, Carey led the investor relations efforts for ChoicePoint in Alpharetta and for Mirant in Atlanta prior and during the majority of Mirant's Chapter 11 proceedings. As a result, Carey has extensive experience in both equity and fixed income investor communications.

Carey has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN and an MBA in Finance from Georgia State University.
